Avengers: Doomsday is all set to make a worldwide debut on December 18, later this year. A treat for the MCU fans, 2026 will not only bring back Robert Downey Jr to the franchise, but also deliver a power-packed collaboration between the superheroes, from Avengers to the Fantastic Four. However, an old video of Avengers: Doomsday director Joe Russo resurfaced. His remark on Bollywood actor Salman Khan left Indian fans stunned.

During one of the press tours in India for Avengers: Endgame, action director Joe Russo revealed that Salman Khan was his favourite Indian actor. Having drawn inspiration from several action sequences across the film industry, Abhinav Kashyap’s Dabangg stood out for Russo, the maker of a billion-dollar franchise and a cult-like popularity.

‘I saw Dabangg’

During the media interaction, Joe Russo shared that he recently had the chance to watch Dabangg, as he promoted the Avengers film in 2019. He said, “I saw Dabangg a few years ago. I love it. I loved the camera work, and I thought the film was great.”

He added, “The action’s great. I am an action director, so I love watching action movies,” as he praised Bollywood’s modern-day cop universe. However, the Internet seemed unimpressed with the comment and called it ‘a new way to promote movies’, while Salman Khan fans celebrated his global appeal. At the same time, a few netizens were surprised at this choice in Bollywood action movies, as they continued to call his stance a ‘promotional gimmick’.

At the same time, cop movies are one of the most successful genres for Bollywood. Modern-day cops, including Ajay Devgn‘s Bajirao Singham to Amitabh Bachchan’s Zanjeer, have all shone on the silver screen and saved the day.

Avengers Doomsday: Latest update

According to the latest fan theories and reports, Avengers: Doomsday will bring back the Russo brothers in their most action-packed form. According to YouTuber John Campea, the upcoming December 2026 release will ‘eclipse everything else Marvel’s ever done,’ when it comes to the ‘sheer action volume.’ With the excitement soaring high, experts also suggest that the scale of action in Avengers: Doomsday would be like no other.

With Spider-Man Brand New Day also scheduled to see the light, Marvel fans are in for a treat. However, with Hulk missing from Avengers: Doomsday, actor Mark Ruffalo opened up about his presence in the Tom Holland starrer. The absence from the headliner marks a new phase for the MCU and its crossover collaborations.
