LIVE: The 33rd anniversary of the Hanteo Music Awards (HMAs) is live on TikTok as we speak! And some of the first winning announcements of the night have already rolled out as well. Slated to take place at KSPO Dome in Seoul on Sunday, February 15, the main show kicked off at 6 pm KST (2:30 pm IST), with Lee Chan Won and GIRLS’ GENERATION’s Tiffany Young as co-hosts of the night.
Sunday’s live performing lineup was confirmed beforehand as follows: Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, LUCY, ARTMS, ATEEZ, Lee Chan Won, Park Ji Hyeon, Hearts2Hearts, Hwang Karam, Kim Hee Jae, Son Tae Jin, PENTAGON, NOWZ, Billlie, xikers, idntt, WEi, Yoon Jongshin, tripleS, Forestella, 8TURN, WING, Lee Youngji and BTOB’s Changsub.
Winners of some awards, which partly relied on fan votes for the big decision and certain special categories, were announced on the official Hanteo Music Awards socials as the star-studded red carpet event was ongoing.
For the Rookie for the Year award, SM Entertainment’s girl group Hearts2Hearts and HYBE Labels’ boy group CORTIS were among the top-ranking fan-favourite nominees on the Whosfan voting platform.
The SM act was crowned the Rookie of the Year first during the live ceremony on Sunday. And then the HYBE act, which just made history opening the NBA All-Star event at the NBA Crossover Concert Series this week, becoming the first K-pop act to headline it, was also announced as yet another ROTY winner some time later.
