Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Preliminary Examination comprises of two objective papers. Each paper is of 200 marks and serve as a screening test.
While Paper-1 of UPSC’s civil services exams (UPSC Prelims) is of General Studies and include current affairs, the Paper-2 is Aptitude Test. Candidates have to score minimum 33% marks to be able to appear in UPSC mains, which is a written exam.
A candidate who qualified for mains in a particular year will be eligible to appear for main exams of that particular year only.
