The UPSC is all set to start the process of online application for Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2018 from Wednesday.

The Union Public Service (UPSC) is all set to start the process of online application for Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2018 from Wednesday. Çandidates can apply through UPSC’s official website https://www.upsc.gov.in. It is considered as one of the most important recruitments in government services.Last year, over 10 lakh candidates applied for the exam. While the official notification for recruitment is all set to start, the application process will also begin on the same day. Candidates will also get one month time for completion of the process.

According to the annual examination calendar declared by the commission, the application process for both Civil Service (Preliminary) exam and Indian Forest Services (Preliminary) exam 2018 through CSP will start on Wednesday and will end on March 6. The Preliminary examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 3.

Interested candidates must hold a degree to apply for the Civil Services Exam. The candidate should in between age group of 21-32 years as on August 1, 2018. For reserved category upper age limit is relaxable. Candidates can find details in the official website.

The preliminary exam will consist of two papers — objective type and general studies.

In the objective type, multiple choice questions are asked which carry the total of 400 marks. In the general studies paper – II, candidates will have to qualify with the minimum of 33 percent marks.

In August 2015, a committee constituted an expert panel under the chairmanship of former human resource development secretary and retired IAS officer BS Baswan to review the scheme of civil services exam. As per reports, some recommendations include a reduction in the upper age limit of 32 years to appear in the civil service exam.

Here is the calendar for UPSC Civil Service exam this year

Wednesday, February 7: Notification to be declared for Civil service exams 2018.

Tuesday, March 6: Last date of application for the exam.

Sunday, June 3: Date of commencement of preliminary exam.

Monday, October 1: Date of commencement of Civil service main exams.
