RRB recruitment 2018: In a big relief to the candidates appearing for the Railway Recruitment Exams 2018, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has clarified that examination fees for exempted categories and general category students will be refunded after they appear for the exams. In a tweet, he said, “Examination fees for exempted categories is Rs 250, which will be refunded once they appear in the exam & for general categories, it is Rs 500, of which Rs 400 will be refunded after appearing in the exam.” Furthermore, he also cleared the air on the restrictions on the language of the signature. The decision to reduce the fees in the RRS Recruitment 2018 by the Ministry of Railways has come within days after it received flak from the candidates. Many candidates complained that the SSC exams fees are lesser than what railways are demanding in the online application form. It must be noted here that Railways has invited applications for 89,000 vacant posts of assistant loco pilots, gangmen, helper and technical assistants. “I want to make it clear that the hike in the fees is because we realised that many people fill the form and then do not turn up for the exams. The government spends a lot of money on the exams. So, those who appear will get their fee refunded. Those who have paid Rs 250 will be refunded the entire amount and those who have paid Rs 500 will be refunded Rs 400. So, in effect, there is no hike. We want only the serious candidates to appear in the exams,” said Goyal, as per a report by The Indian Express.
