IIT Bombay placements: Students bag handsome packages, US and Japanese firms make top offers

Students were offered as hefty a base package as $1,10,000, the highest offer from US firm Uber. Even Microsoft has made an offer of $1,06,000 and Oracle offered $1,00,000 salary package. Japanese firms also selected students at high value packages.

IIT Bombay Placement: The Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) saw a great year in terms of placement packages, as the students of bagged some handsome offers. Many companies across varied sectors such as research and development, consulting, finance, and software visited the college to hire students. Many foreign companies like Uber, Ola, etc employed students for domestic as well as international roles.

Students were offered as hefty a base package as $1,10,000, the highest offer from US firm Uber. Even Microsoft has made an offer of $1,06,000 and Oracle offered $1,00,000 salary package. Japanese firms also selected students at high value packages. Companies like Works app offered base packages worth ¥60 lakh, whereas, Rakuten and Toyo Engineering offered ¥37.20 lakh and ¥35.16 lakh, respectively.

For the placements done within the country, Blackstone offered students with as high as Rs 35 lakh as a base package. Schlumberger also offered Rs 28 lakh, World Quant offered Rs 25.20 lakh and Xerox Research made an offer of Rs 22 lakh as base package. Other companies that selected students to provide domestic placements were Intel Technologies, Samsung R&D, Goldman Sachs and Citi Corp Services India Ltd.

Some companies are still scheduled to visit the campus in the coming week. An IIT Bombay spokesperson was quoted by Indian Express as saying that the placement season so far has seen a positive trend when it comes to companies versus job offers made. The offers by various multinational companies have brought great relief to premier educational institute after fears were voiced that there might be a lull in the offers made in terms of salaries and number of actual offers made.
