As many as 420 students of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM B) received 462 offers from around 140 companies, in India as well as abroad. Around 34 percent of the batch were offered jobs in management consulting sector with a number of leading global banks offering roles. Highest of them came from Goldman Sachs, which offered nine jobs, the institute said in a statement.
Among financial firms and banks, the ICICI Bank made the most number of nine offers. In technology consulting sector PriceWaterhouseCoopers made 12 offers, It was followed by Accenture Technology (6), Larsen and Toubro Infotech Consulting (5) and Cognizant Consulting (4).
Conglomerates offered jobs in good numbers for their leadership tracks in general management posts with Vedanta leading with 5 offers. Students who opted for sales and marketing roles were hired by major consumer goods firms like Samsung Electronics with 10 offers.
“Many sought-after recruiters surprised us by making many more offers than they had initially indicated and helped us complete our placements earlier than estimated”, Professor Ganesh N Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore, was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
Dibyajyoti Mohapatra, Placement Representative, told the paper, “IIM-B experienced higher hiring interest in the more sought-after roles of investment banking and strategy consulting leading to more offers while the numbers were as usual in the other roles.”
Financial Services recruiters include Bajaj Finserve, Altisource, Anand Rathi Wealth Management, Piramal Finance and BNY Mellon. Corporate Finance roles were offered by companies like Flipkart, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Treasury, Procter & Gamble and Hindustan Unilever, NDTV reported.
Deloitte USI led with 18 offers in the consulting domain. It was followed by The Boston Consulting Group with 17 offers.
Other companies which offered jobs include Accenture Strategy, AT Kearney, Bain & Company, McKinsey & Co, EY-Parthenon Singapore, Deloitte India, Nomura Research Institute, GEP Consulting, Ernst & Young, EXL Consulting, Alvarez & Marsal, KPMG, EY-Parthenon Dubai, Infosys Management Consulting, Roland Berger, Feedback Infra, Bay Current, Hay Group, Zinnov, Actus Advisors, Parthenon India, IBM Consulting, Siemens Management Consulting and Renew Power .
