Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), conducted a thorough review of all ongoing schemes and divisions within the Ministry. He actively participated in sessions to gain deep insights into the operations, achievements and challenges faced by various MSDE divisions. This engagement provided valuable insights to enhance the Ministry’s strategic approach and future roadmap for skill development, according to an official release.

The Minister interacted extensively with senior officials and stakeholders to assess the progress and impact of MSDE’s initiatives, commending the Ministry’s efforts in laying the groundwork for the skill ecosystem. He emphasised the importance of creating demand for skills and underscored the role of these programs in bridging skill gaps, fostering innovation, and promoting employment.

Focus on entrepreneurship and skill development initiatives

Chaudhary also scrutinised the latest data and feedback on these schemes to pinpoint areas needing immediate attention and improvement. He stressed the importance of unified efforts towards common goals and highlighted entrepreneurship’s crucial role in driving economic growth and self-reliance. The Minister expressed keen interest in visiting centres hosting Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDPs), particularly those tailored for ex-servicemen and retired defence personnel, recognizing their potential contribution to the entrepreneurial landscape.

Additionally, the Minister emphasised meticulous budget planning and expenditure management to ensure optimal resource utilisation within the Ministry. During the review, attention was drawn to the Ministry’s 100-day plan, focusing on strengthening Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), implementing the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) with targeted precision, operationalizing Indian Institutes of Skills (IIS), Skill India International Centres, and expanding Jan Shikshan Sansthans’ reach. He pledged personal support to these initiatives, reaffirming his dedication to their success.

Chaudhary’s vision for national skill development

Furthermore, Chaudhary reiterated the commitment to providing quality skill training nationwide, particularly targeting marginalised communities, remote areas, and skills relevant to emerging markets. He called for enhanced collaboration with industry partners to enrich apprenticeship and vocational training programs.

Highlighting the necessity of concerted efforts for nationwide skill development, Jayant Chaudhary emphasised collaboration and convergence with other Ministries and States to scale and accelerate the skill ecosystem.
