In a world grappling with geopolitical tensions and shaky hiring sentiment, Indian engineering talent continues to shine on the global stage. AI-powered recruitment platform Cognavi claims to have successfully placed 13 Indian students in Japan with an impressive average annual package of Rs 42.15 lakh.

The company claims that out of 127 applicants, 13 candidates received job offers. The selected students, who come from premier institutions including IIT Madras, IIT Mandi, and SRM Institute of Science and Technology, secured offers ranging between Rs 42.15 lakh and Rs 56.27 lakh per annum. The highest offer touched Rs 56.27 lakh (about 9.6 million yen), while the average stood at 7.1 million yen, according to Cognavi.
“They have been hired for roles in core engineering and technology are”as such as data engineering, systems engineering, and product development, primarily within Japan’s manufacturing and tech sectors,” Varun Modgill, Managing Director and CTO, Cognavi India, said.
Cognavi claims to have used its AI-driven skill mapping and assessment system to shortlist 20 candidates from the initial 127 applicants, eventually selecting 13 for the positions.
“The global engineering talent shortage is not a supply problem — it’s a matching problem. India is producing world-class engineers, but the link to international opportunities has been missing. We’re fixing that with AI. One student just received a Rs 56 lakh offer,” he added.
Industry observers note that such AI-powered hiring platforms are becoming increasingly popular among multinational companies seeking specialised engineering talent from India, especially for non-IT roles, even amid global uncertainties.
