The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the seat matrix for the second round of NEET PG counselling, confirming that around 32,000 seats are now available under clear and virtual vacancies. The committee has also added 2,620 new seats for this round. Students can now fill their choices on the official website mcc.nic.in.

The application window for round 2 opened on December 5 and will remain active until December 9. This round is meant for candidates who either did not get a seat in round 1 or want to apply again for the All India Quota (AIQ) seats.

Breakdown of available seats

As per the updated seat matrix, there are 32,080 seats available in total, which include 17,623 clear vacancies, 11,837 virtual vacancies and the newly added 2,620 seats. Virtual vacancies are seats held by candidates from the first round, who may choose an upgrade during the next rounds.

The choice-filling process will continue until 11:55 pm on December 9 and candidates can lock their choices between 4 pm and 11:55 pm on the same day. MCC will declare the round 2 seat allotment results on December 12, based on the choices submitted.

Round 1 candidates begin reporting

Meanwhile, students who received a seat in round 1 must now report to their allotted colleges for document verification. In the first round, 26,889 candidates secured seats in various clinical and non-clinical courses. Among the top preferences, MD General Medicine was the most sought-after, followed by MD Radiodiagnosis and MD Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
