Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) launched an idea competition 'SRIJAN' (Station Rejuvenation through Joint Action) to redevelop 635 railway stations. In addition to this, IRDSC has also launched logo and tagline competitions.
In a bid to redevelop over 600 major railway stations across the nation, an idea competition ‘SRIJAN’ (Station Rejuvenation through Joint Action) has been launched at MyGov portal since January 26, 2018, by Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC). All stakeholders like railway passengers, architects, urban planners, engineers are allowed to send their ideas and the last date to submit the entries is March 26, 2018. The Railway Ministry said that the winners will be given certificates and the worthy ideas will be considered in the redevelopment designs of the stations. The redevelopment of 600 major railway stations was announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Union Budget 2018, which was held on February 1 in the parliament.
In addition to the idea competition, IRSDC has also launched competitions for logo and tagline through MyGov portal. A prize money of Rs 75,000 has been kept for each of the winners of logo and tagline competition. For this, the last date to submit entries is also March 26, 2018.
One round of empanelment has already been carried out by IRSDC and in different categories of A, B and C, 11 firms have been empanelled. According to the Railway Ministry, a second round of Request for Empanelment (RFE) has been also called as more number of architectural firms are required to work on the redevelopment plan.
Also, an open invitation to all professionals to submit concept master plans for the redevelopment of the railway stations has been given at IRSDC web portal.The last date to submit the entries for the stations redevelopment is now March 9, 2018. According to the Railway Ministry, an ‘Architect-Samvad’ is likely to be held on March 2018, in which Railway Minister Piyush Goyal will interact with architects on the stations redevelopment plan.
First round of International Design Competition has been over for Gwalior, Nagpur and Bayappanhalli railway stations and the second round is scheduled to be over by March 31, 2018. Further to this, Engineering Procurement Contract (EPC) tenders will be called for these railway stations. For Chandigarh, Anand Vihar (Delhi), Bangalore, Secundrabad and Pune railway stations, tenders for Integrated Station Management through private players has been called. For the redevelopment of Chandigarh, Anand Vihar, Bijwasan and Surat railway stations, tenders are expected in March 2018.
