Around Yu services include cab booking, flight booking
Yu Televentures, the smartphone brand owned by the promoters of Micromax Informatics, on Thursday forayed into integrated services, in a move aimed at creating a differentiation in their handsets beyond hardware specifications and also getting more revenue from the smartphone buyer.
“The idea is to make services a revenue stream,” Rahul Sharma, founder of Yu Televentures told FE.
On Thursday while launching its latest smartphone called Yutopia, the company introduced its first set of services that revolves around a consumers usage, named Around YU, on its devices. In the first phase, Around Yu services include cab booking, flight booking, and hotels booking, shopping, and food.
The company plans to add more services in future including entertainment and news. The Around Yu services app gives the option to the smartphone user to get a service they want at a single click, which in turn will aggregate information from various service provdiers and apps which they can choose on a single screen, instead of juggling through multiple apps.
Sharma said the service was made possible due to its investments in some start-ups including Ixigo, a travel aggregation startup, as well as partnerships with other app companies.
For the first phase, its partners include Zomata, Ixigo and Scandid.
