With its brand ambassador Deepika Padukone centred promotions getting good traction, Vistara airlines, in a surprise move, announced a new scheme through which it is looking to build up a mass base at the lower level of the flying public. The airliner unveiled an offer in which it has cut ticket prices to as low as Rs 949.
The Vistara offer will apply on an all-inclusive one-way fares basis applicable on air tickets booked between 6-10 September that will allow travel between 12-20 September.
According to a Vistara statement, “This is a limited inventory/limited period sale for the last phase of low season and a wonderful opportunity for people to try the ‘new feeling’ as Vistara does not announce too many sales.”
However, would-be passengers should know that the the Vistara offer will be valid if the purchase is made at least 6 days in advance.
With AirAsia too unveiling its new offer today, Sharat Dhall, President of Yatra.com said: “We are expecting that other carriers are likely to join the sale as well.” Not just Vistara and AirAsia, other airlines are expected to join the tariff dog-fight soon as they would be worried about being left behind, especially by Vistara which is not known for announcing sales and which will be looking to make major inroads into the competitors’ loyal customer base. The fact that this is for the lean travel season it will be an even more desperate fight.
The slow season (two of them in fact in the year – between January-March and July-September) sees the jetliners flying with many empty seats and this adds to huge amounts to losses that most airliners are looking to avoid by cutting their ticket prices.
