Infosys has mooted the idea of a visa independent business model which would help the company in the long run given the backlash against the use of H-1B visas in the US.

Companies like Infosys,   Wipro, TCS etc are heavy users of these visas to execute their business in the US and it has attracted undue attention from lawmakers and others there.

Talking to media during the Q4 result announcement, Vishal Sikka, CEO, Infosys said “Our view is to become independent of visas, to hire locally. I am myself a local hire in the US, we have thousands of people who are locally hired working in US, Europe, Australia and other places.” When asked about the various visa related issues faced by Indian IT companies in the US, Sikka said, during the election period there is always rhetoric around this.
