The US-India Business Council (USIBC) is bringing the largest ever delegation of American businessmen to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit (VGGIS), which is starting on Sunday. While some of the companies are already functioning in Gujarat and elsewhere in India, others are looking at this as a networking platform and getting to know the new leadership in the state and in the country in general, said Diane Farrell, acting president, USIBC.

“This time, it will not be about MoUs but our focus is on the long-term commitment. The delegation would also like to know the new Gujarat chief minister Anandi Patel better.

This Vibrant Gujarat summit is important also because we get to see it through the eyes of the Prime Minister of India,” Farrell told FE.

Meanwhile, in a first major diplomatic initiative with Gujarat, the UK on Saturday announced the opening of its Deputy High Commission in Ahmedabad.

The UK is leading one of the largest delegations comprising over 60 British companies and 100 delegates to VGGIS, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar on Sunday.
