The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is expected to give its recommendations on the reserve price of different spectrum bands for the next round of auction by January 15.
After the conclusion of open house discussion on Monday, Trai chairman R S Sharma said the discussion was productive where all the stakeholders put across their views and comments.
“We can now expect to come out with recommendations on spectrum pricing for various bands by the middle of January,” said Sharma. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has sought recommendations from Trai on reserve price of spectrum bands besides other modalities of the auction. He said the stakeholders can submit their comments discussed on Monday in the open house by January 7. Trai had floated a consultation paper on reference made by the government to suggest the base or floor price for all available airwaves for mobile services.
DoT will thereafter commence the process of auction after getting recommendations from Trai.
The government had pegged a revenue of Rs 42,866 crore from telecom services that include upfront realisation from spectrum sale and licence fee for the current financial year.
