The Zebronics tower speakers are beautifully designed with an impressive listening experience
Over the last few years, the mobile phone has become part and parcel of many people’s lives. And because of that, music is everywhere too; people tend to listen to their collection of songs stored on their mobile phones. For a change, some people still enjoy listening to their music on their wooden speakers. I am one such self-proclaimed audiophile who likes to listen to Hindi as well as English songs from the 80s and 90s, on my Sony music system and its two mid-sized wooden speakers, which produce a rich, warm sound.
Recently I received an interesting piece of audio equipment from Zebronics. These are the ZEB-BT9900RUCF tower speakers, which stand tall at 3.5 feet in height and carry a price tag of Rs16,999, clearly implying that spending on good sound no longer needs the lion’s share of your budget. Let us check out their performance.
Chennai-headquartered Zebronics has a wide line-up of products for computers, peripherals and consumer electronics. These include speakers, tablet PCs, portable media players, headphones, LED monitors, among others. Their new offering, the ZEB-BT9900RUCF, has the potential to transform your home into your own discotheque or movie hall with powerful surround sound. At first glance, they look like a much more expensive speaker system. They are housed in a wooden enclosure and come with a sleek, handsome wooden finish design with glossy front panel that complements the decor and adds style to any room.
What makes a good whole home audio system? In my opinion, the ideal system for playing music across your entire home should be easy to integrate and implement, flexible, reliable, scalable and easy to operate. The Zebronics Tower is easy to set up. And I call them genuine wire cutters as they can pipe music from a mobile phone, tablet, laptop or music stored in a pen drive. What is more, you can control it with your Wi-Fi equipped mobile phone.
Switched on, the two speakers deliver majestic sound that is dynamic and crystal clear. Each woofer has a dedicated and completely separate internal compartment with its own custom port tuning frequency. The result is
effortless, deep bass. Similarly the mid range driver in each tower has its own dedicated compartment to ensure a smooth, precise and clear mid range free from any distortion.
Technical speak, there are 10 inch woofers in each tower and with a total of 120 watts RMS output, its user is only going to have a bombastic time. With a dedicated dome tweeter, dedicated mid range driver and dual long throw woofers, the Zebronics Tower effortlessly cranks out clean, dynamic and powerful sound. Its several connectivity options include built in Bluetooth, Aux Line in support and USB/SD card reader slot which lets you plug your
music without any hassle.
Let me explain how I tested the Zebronics Tower. My testing was largely focused on versatility and usability, since those are the main differentiating factors for a good music system. I wanted to know if the Zebronics system could conveniently play anything and everything I threw at it. All of my music is stored on a laptop, mobile phone and pen drives; additionally, I stream a lot of music from YouTube. I set up the Zebronics system in my TV room and almost immediately could make out why ZEB-BT9900RUCF is the winner. It is flexible, easy to use and seamlessly connects with all the portable mobility devices.
My takeaways: The sound quality is superb. Vocal clarity is very impressive, the soundstage they present is wide and deep, the speakers sound wonderful in a living room and they produce a full-range, dynamic system that sounds bigger than it looks.
Many people are fine with sacrificing a bit of quality for price, but the Zebronics Tower does not force that choice. After weeks of daily use it continues to hold up well with no issues. In short, with the Zebronics Tower you can set up your own discotheque at home. Or enjoy old favourites in your quiet moments.
