Redmi 7 has gone official in China

Redmi 7 has been officially launched by Xiaomi at an event in Beijing, China. The successor to the Redmi 6 comes with a Snapdragon 632 processor, a ‘Dot Drop’ display, and P2i splash-proof technology for “better” water resistance. This is the third smartphone to the newly formed Redmi brand led by General Manager Lu Weibing. The Redmi 7 has only been announced for the Chinese market but its arrival in India is expected. Xiaomi also unveiled the Redmi Note 7 Pro in China alongside.

Redmi 7 Price, Availability

The Redmi 7 price is 699 yuan (roughly Rs 7,200) for the 2GB RAM and 16GB storage variant, 799 yuan (roughly Rs 8,200) for 3GB RAM and 32GB storage model, and finally 999 yuan (roughly Rs 10,200) for the top-end 4GB/64GB version. The colour variants include Comet Blue, Lunar Red, and Eclipse Black.

Redmi 7 sale in China starts at 10 am on March 26 via online retailers. While the company has not said anything on its availability outside mainland China, Redmi 7 is likely coming to India later.

Redmi 7 Specifications

The dual-SIM supported Redmi 7 runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10. Redmi 7 sports a 6.26-inch HD+ ‘Dot Drop’ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is similar to the one seen on Redmi Note 7 Pro. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 mobile platform having eight Kryo cores. There are three RAM and storage versions that we have mentioned above, in addition to a microSD card slot to expand storage.

Redmi 7 gets dual cameras on the rear – a 12-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel depth camera. The primary sensor has 1.25-micron pixels that Xiaomi claims can produce photos of a quality “higher” than its competitors. There is an 8-megapixel camera available on the front with support for hand gestures. The smartphone is backed by a 4000mAh battery that is rated to deliver a standby time of up to 400 hours. There is an infrared sensor, a fingerprint sensor, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
