Xiaomi has begun the rollout of its Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 for the entry-level Redmi 5A. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A MIUI 9 is pushed via OTA update and it is expected to reach the users soon via the Updater app on their devices. Xiaomi, in a forum post, confirmed the release of the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM V18.104.22.168.NCKMIEK for the Redmi 5A that brings Android Nougat features. Meanwhile, Xiaomi Redmi 5A users who don’t like waiting can download the ROM from the MIUI forum and flash their devices.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A MIUI 9 update brings a plethora of features and new apps on the device. The changelog of the update highlights some features such as a simplified UI, Mi Mover app, improved Scanner app, and new display formats for update logs among others. The update is around 1.41GB in size and users are advised to keep checking the Updater app on their Redmi 5A smartphones. Alternatively, they can download the update and flash their devices using the fastboot method. In order to do that, users need to go the Updater app and tap on the three dots on the top right corner. Then, select Choose update package that will bring you to the file explorer where you will select the downloaded ROM. After this, begin the flashing process but ensure you back up all your data to prevent loss beforehand.
