Xiaomi Mi 4i runs on a 2nd-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor based on A53 architecture with four performance cores at 1.7 GHz and four power saving cores at 1.1 GHz.
All speculations about “I is coming” can now be put to rest. Xiaomi, at its first global launch event in India unveiled its Mi 4i smartphone and Mi Band. Over 1,500 fans packed the Siri Fort Auditorium to witness the launch.
Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun in his maiden public appearance in India to launch the Mi Band fitness tracker and also announced it as a giveaway for the audience. Xiaomi had invited over 1,500 fans to its global Mi 4i launch event at Siri Fort auditorium. A vividly excited Jun thanked them for helping the 5-year old Chinese startup to make a dent in the local market.
“India is extremely significant to Xiaomi. It is our largest international market outside of mainland China, and I am truly excited that Mi 4i will be launching first in India, followed by our other global markets,” said Jun.
The Mi 4i features a 5-inch 1080p Full HD fully laminated OGS sunlight display with a pixel density of PPI. Mi 4i ships with MIUI 6 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Another interesting feature introduced in MIUI 6 is visual IVR which lets user to see options in automated calls and respond at a glance. So, if you are dialing any customer care number, you will not have to listen and follow instructions like “Please press 1 for English or press 2 for Hindi.”

It comes with Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of onboard storage which cannot be further expanded. So, users will have to live with around 12GB of free memory.
Powered by a 3120mAh battery with Quick Charge technology, the device comes with a 13MP rear camera with Sony/Samsung sensor along with a two-tone (White and Yellow) flash. It also comes with a 5MP front camera (f/1.8 wide-angled lens).
On the connectivity front, it is a dual SIM (dual standby) device and supports 4G on both SIM card slots. Other features include 802.11ac WiFi with M-MIMO support (supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands), Bluetooth 4.1, Bluetooth HID, WiFi display and WiFi Direct.
Mi 4i will go on sale at Rs 12,999. Registration on Flipkart starts on April 23 and the sale will begin from April 30. The smartphone will available on Snapdeal.com, Amazon.in and other channels like The Mobile store as well, later.
The Mi Band fitness tracker is priced at Rs 999 and will be sold exclusively on Mi.com. The Mi Band not only tracks exercise, but also monitors sleep patterns. It can also automatically unlock Mi phones and other Android 5.0 devices. First 1,000 units will be sold for Re 1 and registrations for the same starts on April 28. The Mi Band is water-resistant and will be available in several strap colours like Black, Blue, Green and Pink along with leather straps too.
