Xiaomi is working on the successor to the Mi MIX 2, Mi MIX 2S that the company will launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, as per early reports. Further, the design element in the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will not be very much different from the predecessor Mi MIX 2, however, there will be significant upgrades in terms of specifications. A new leak suggests that the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, as opposed to the Snapdragon 835 SoC on Mi MIX 2. This information is based on a benchmark listing showing a device codenamed Polaris with Snapdragon 845 SoC that is speculated to be the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S.
According to a report by MyDrivers, the Xiaomi device bearing a codename Polaris has appeared on AnTuTu benchmarking website where it scored 270,46, which is considerably huge suggesting that it could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood. If this is anything to believe, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will sit next to the first smartphones with a Snapdragon 845 SoC – Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. However, early reports suggested that Xiaomi could launch Mi 7, the successor to the Mi 6, at MWC 2018. The Xiaomi Mi 7 was rumoured to pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC as well.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun last year in December announced the partnership with Qualcomm to use the latter’s Snapdragon 845 chips on the upcoming Xiaomi smartphones. The Xiaomi Mi 7 was initially expected to be the first Xiaomi smartphone with Snapdragon 845 SoC, however, according to this piece of information obtained via AnTuTu listing, Xiaomi might launch Mi MIX 2S instead at its MWC 2018 event. In addition to the Snapdragon 845 processor, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will bear an iPhone X-like design, which means a top ‘notch’ can be expected with minimal bezels on the sides. However, there will be a single camera on the device. The reports also suggest that the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S price will be set around 4,000 yuan (roughly Rs 40,000) and it will begin shipping in March.
