Chinese electronics company Xiaomi is likely to launch a new variant of its flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi5. The upcoming device named as Xiaomi 5S might come with 6GB of RAM, Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 SoC and a Full HD display. The smartphone might also run on Android Marshmallow v6.0.1. According to the leaks and rumours, the Mi5S smartphone will be fueled by a 3490mAh battery and a massive 256GB of internal storage. The smartphone is expected to come with a 16-megapixel rear camera along with support for 4K video recording and a decent 4-megapixel front camera.
The size of the FullHD display of the Mi 5s is likely to be somewhere around 5.15-inches. The smartphone will also have a USB Type-C for charging and data transfer. The interesting feature to look for will be Xiaomi’s own version of Apple’s 3D Touch. Rumors suggest that the device in terms of connectivity will support 3G, VoLTE, GPRS, Wi-Fi, EDGE, NFC, 4G LTE, and Bluetooth 4.1. The smartphone is mostly going to be a bit on the heavier side, weighing around 147 grams and dimensions of 144.5×69.2×7.2 millimetres. There has been no announcement yet, but the new Xiaomi Mi5S sure looks exciting and is the one to watch out for.
When Mi 5 was launched in India after it was unveiled in China, the company announced just the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant of the smartphone and was priced at Rs 24,999. Recently the price of Xiaomi Mi5 went down to Rs 22,999. The smartphone got quite popular because of its specifications, yet there were complaints of heating and poor software. It remains to be seen what the company has changed in its latest flagship product. According to IDC data, Xiaomi is number 3 in top 30 Indian cities.
