Check out.

Truecaller is a popular mobile application in India which enables users to check or search mobile numbers. In addition to its caller ID, spam detection, and messaging abilities, the app has added two more features. The first feature is called a ‘Number scanner’, where you will be able to use the Truecaller app to scan a number directly from business cards, websites, street signs etc. The other feature is called ‘Scan & Pay’, where users will be able to scan a number and pay directly using Truecaller Pay. In addition to these, the mobile app has also added a feature called “Fast Track numbers” which is a service that integrates toll-free numbers for emergency services like police, fire, medical care, women’s helpline and more.

What is a Number Scanner? How to use? Under this feature, Trucaller uses your smartphone camera to scan phone numbers from billboards, business cards and similar things. There is a camera button on the Truecaller search tab. You just have to click it and point the camera in the direction of the number you want to scan. You don’t need to click a picture to activate the feature. There is a small camera mode in the app as well, denoted by the hamburger icon. You can use that as well. Interestingly, you don’t need to have an internet connection to activate this feature. But if you do, the app will try to identify the number from its database and tell you the name.

What is ‘Scan and Pay’? You can use the above scan feature to make payments in Truecaller Pay which is a CICI Bank-powered UPI payments feature. Similar to Paytm, Truecaller Pay lets users send money quickly using phone numbers. Here you don’t need to even scan a QR code, just a mobile number will do.

What are ‘Fast Track’ numbers? You can access the search bar to find out numbers of emergency services and other important services like hotels, airports etc. You can also access these number without an internet connection.

It should be noted that Truecaller will be rolling out the new features – Number Scanner and Fast Track numbers with its upcoming Android release 8.45 this week.
