Global smartphone giant Samsung has unveiled its latest device, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus and they make every other phone in the market look outdated. When it comes to the consumer, especially of the flagship devices the battle between Samsung and Apple is inevitable. As the South Korean company unveiled its new devices it seems like it has blown its rivals away. Whether it is the design, storage or display, Samsung beats the Apple iPhone on many accounts. It is true, that the Samsung devices have just been launched, and it is just the first impressions that we are judging. While stability and hardware are as important as the specifications of a smartphone, at least on paper, the Galaxy S8 beats iPhone 7 on many accounts.
After months of speculations and anticipation, Samsung has answered the patience of the consumers and the new smartphones have officially been launched. It remains to be seen if Samsung Galaxy S8 will live up to the hype and perform based on the design it appears to have. While Samsung has concentrated on its display this time around, with its Infinity Display, it has not held back in terms of hardware too. While comparisons with rival smartphones are bound ti happen, here is a look at the top five features, where Samsung Galaxy S8 scores over the Apple iPhone 7:
Samsung has called its screen, Infinity Display and it is beautiful. Apple does not compare to Samsung when it comes to display panels. And the way Samsung is working towards making bezel-less phones, Apple has to be quick in order to catch up. While Samsung’s last devices almost removed the side bezels, this time it has outdone itself, by almost erasing the top and bottom bezels. Additionally, it has the Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display which makes it look amazing. Also, the screens are curved which, apart from looking good, also makes the phone appear thinner and more comfortable to handle. It is not the case in the Apple smartphone.

Samsung is gradually making people move away from computers in the future. The company has a new DeX station where you can dock the Galaxy devices and eventually connect it to other accessories like a mouse or keyboard. Even the desktop mode is super fast even in terms of playing 4K videos and multi-tasking, and the best part is that many apps, including Samsung’s own, have bene optimised for a desktop experience. Apple’s latest patents suggest that it will come up with similar features, but until they come, it appears that Samsung has totally punched it down.
Iris scanner & Face recognition
When it comes to cyber security, in today;s world, nothing is enough. It is true that Apple got the fingerprint scanner to the world, but it could not innovate beyond. Now every other phone has it. Meanwhile, Samsung has rolled out new authentication methods on its smartphones. The iris scanner, which was present in the Galaxy Note 7, can unlock the phone as well has provided access to a Secure Folder in the device. Also, facial recognition has been added as another security method which can only open the phone as of now.
Bixby & Google Assistant in the same device
Apple has Siri, but iPhone users can barely use other assistants. While they can access third-party voice assistants but they are not really great since Apple does not let them access its main components. Google Assistant is a hugely popular virtual assistant which was present in the Google Pixel devices, but now it is there on many devices. With Bixby coming in the possibilities of the phone reaches even higher potential. Together they make Apple’s Siri a little silly and outdated. The ‘intelligent interface’ lies somewhere between a virtual assistant, a personal buyer and probably a tour guide. It can get things done without the need for touching the device. Samsung’s plans were ambitious when it said that the Bixby will also work when IoT devices come in full force.

Storage and processor
Storage has been a very old and cliches criticism for Apple iPhones, but that does not take away the fact as well. Apple devices are costly, and higher storage devices even more. While the choice to not let expandable storage on it phones look deliberate in Apple iPhones, Samsung does not want to go that way. Samsung’s devices are expandable and can go up to 256GB, which makes it redundant to shell out more money for a premium iPhone 7 model. Additionally, when it comes to the processor, Samsung has both the Snapdragon 835 and the Exynos 8895 with a 10nm chipset, which has a great thing to have, especially since Apple’s biggest plus has been its super fast processors. After this, Apple will come up with a 10nm processor as well, but it is a long wait ahead.
