After its disastrous experience with the Note 7, Samsung is all set to launch its new flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S8 on Wednesday. This launch holds a lot of significance for the company as it comes right after the repeated accidents and failures with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Samsung had been forced to recall all the defective phones and put a stop to the production of the Note 7. The Galaxy 8 is expected to be introduced with a new design which will witness an edge-to-edge display covering the entire front space of the device. Speculations are all also ripe about the Galaxy 8 being launched in two different sizes.
What is the Time of launch?
Samsung will be holding the launch event simultaneously at London’s Olympic Park and New York;s Lincoln Centre at 8:30 pm, according to the Indian Standard Time.
How and Where to watch it?
The launch will be live webcast on Samsung’s official website and its Galaxy Unpacked website. Viewers can also watch the event when it live streams on Samsung Mobile YouTube channel. What will the Samsung Galaxy S8 look like?
As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S8 will feature an edge to edge display, meaning, the entire front portion of the device will be taken over by the display. Rumours suggest that the new flagship device will come in two different sizes- 5.8 inch and 6.2-inch screens. The latter is expected to be called the S8 plus. Samsung will also launch Bixby, the company’s own personal assistant, similar to Apple’s Siri and Google Assistant. However, it is most likely to have a headphone jack, unlike the Apple iPhone 7 and run on the Android 7. The phone is likely to be made available in Gold, Grey and Black, although some reports suggest that a Blue might also be an option. The Samsung Galaxy S8’s fingerprint scanner will be placed next to the rear camera.
The S8 series is likely to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and come with 4GB RAM and a 128 GB device inbuilt storage if leaks are to be believed. The S8 series will have a 12 MP rear camera coupled with an 8 MP front camera. A high power 3500 mAh battery can also be expected.
Price and availability in India
Rumours from sources suggest that the S8 will be priced at 799 Euros, which translates to Rs 56,000 in Indian currency, while the S8 plus will be costing the Indian buyers an amount of approximately Rs 63,000. According to IE, an April launch is expected in India, since Samsung has already asked interested buyers to register on their official website.
The success or failure of the S8 will be a make or break for Samsung after the disastrous venture with the Note 7, which caught fire due to battery defects and the company had tp call back its defective pieces and put a complete stop on its production.
