Want to own a Reliance Jio Phone? It may not be quite easy now, as the delivery date for the Jio mobile has reportedly been shifted to September 25 at least in Delhi NCR. According to a report in IndianExpress.com, the JioPhone delivery date has been delayed owing to “unprecedented” demand for the Reliance 4G feature mobile. The Jio mobile was expected to come to the market in the first week of September. However, the IE.com report cited a representative from Reliance Digital Xpress Mini store as saying that the JioPhone will expectedly reach the Jio’s authorised stores in Delhi NCR sometime around September 24. After this, people will begin to receive SMS from Reliance for the collection of the JioPhone from their nearest stores. Notably, the JioPhone will be made available on a first come first serve basis.
The IE report said that the Reliance Digital Xpress store representative had suggested that the availability of the Jio mobile could be different in different cities. For example, if Mumbai saw bookings being made earlier, according to logic, it will be the first to receive the Reliance 4G feature phone. However, he said that Reliance Jio will not delay the release of the Jio Phone in other places.
Reliance Jio had opened the window of pre-booking of JioPhone on August 24. After witnessing a huge demand of the 4G feature mobile, the company decided to suspend the bookings temporarily. So, right now there is no way for interested buyers to book the Jio Phone. However, you can still register your interest in the Jio mobile either offline or on the company’s website Jio.com. IE report said that the pre-bookings may start in the next 2-3 days again, according to speculations made by a few retailers. However, there is no official information available on the same.
The Reliance JioPhone is a highly sought after feature phone in the market because of its 4G support. Additionally, the Jio mobile is available for a security deposit of Rs 1500 which will be returned after a period of three years. This makes the phone effectively free of cost. If you pre-book the Jio 4G feature, you will have to pay Rs 500 initially and the rest of Rs 1000 when you get the device.
Jio Phone has been in hot demand since the time Mukesh Ambani announced the device, but given the huge response after the pre-booking started, it will be interesting to see how the company manages to keep up with it. According to a Counterpoint research, Jio may have to ship 1.5 lakh JioPhones in 2017, since the 4G feature phone is in high demand in India. According to the latest reports, getting your hands on a Jio mobile may take some time now.
