Reliance Jio has announced that its 4G hotspot hub JioFi will be available at a 50 percent discount under a new festival special offer. JioFi festive offer is a scheme with limited period validity. Under the offer, the Reliance Jio JioFi device is available at a price of Rs 999. The original price of the JioFi device is Rs 1,999, which means that there is a Rs 1000 discount. It should be noted that the festive celebration deal is available only for Reliance Jio Prime members and the model which is being sold is the JioFi M2S. Also, this offer cannot be used with any other offer from the company. The JioFi device enables users to get 4G data access, make calls on the VoLTE network even using 2G and 3G smartphones. A user can connect a maximum of 32 devices using the JioFi.
When it comes to the features, the JioFi device by Reliance Jio provides upto 150Mbps of speed (download) and around 50 Mbps (upload). More interestingly, users are able to use the 4G data and HD calling features, even on their budget 2G and 3G devices. Jio says that you can connect around 32 devices, including mobiles to the network, however, due to other constraints it is advisable that you do not use more than 10. The JioFi is fueled by a 2,300mAh. The company has said that the JioFi can work upto six hours when fully charges. When it comes to dimensions, the JioFi is 85x55x16mm.
The Reliance Jio offer is in addition to a plethora of deals and discounts offered by various web portals like Flipkart (Big Billon Days Sale) and Amazon (Great Indian Festival Sale. Most of the e-commerce websites are offering huge deals on smartphones and other electronics. It is interesting to see Jio rolling out a discount on the WiFi hub ahead of the festival season.
Meanwhile, JioFi has a huge market share when it comes to data cards in India. According to a study by CyberMedia Research (CMR), more than 9 out of 10 such devices are JioFi, as of second quarter of 2017. After Jio ranks Huawei and ZTE with around 3 percent and then Alcatel at 2 percent. The research says that the JioFi has been successful because of continuous free data services by Reliance Retail and Mi-Fi data cards.
