The augmented reality game Pokemon GO has become one of the most played games ever and it has even beaten the Facebook android app in terms of usage per day. The game has been in the news for various controversies including privacy threats, danger posed to players after they wander into dangerous areas (a Pokemon GO player was robbed at knife point and another found a a dead body in a river), but more than that the game has come to the fore for creating some weird and humorous situations. So, whatever the critics may say, the Pokemon GO fans argue that it is the best way to make people leave their couch and explore their neighborhood – a win-win situation for all. Here we bring you five humorous but weird instance that occurred while people were playing Pokemon GO:

ISIS briefing and reporter’s Pokemon GO dilemma: Last week, when US State Department spokesman John Kirby was briefing the journalists on ISIS but he suddenly paused and asked. “You’re playing the Pokemon thing right there, aren’t you?,” said Kirby to a journalist and in a surprise to all, the reporter admitted to it very casually by saying, “I’m just keeping an eye on it.”

A catch in cemetery: A young woman got stuck in a tree while playing Pokemon GO inside a cemetery in New Jersey and was rescued by firefighters. The woman climbed a tree as she was trying to catch a Pokemon. When she could not get down, she called the emergency number 911 and was rescued.

Your girlfriend might dump you: Evan Scribner’s girlfriend dumped him just because one of the locations where he had caught a Pokemon was his ex-girlfriend’s home and that was enough to made him single again.

The Pokemon Gym: Boon Sheridan, who lives in an old church converted into a residence, has seen a steady stream of visitors turn into a veritable deluge after his home got pegged as a Pokemon GO Gym.

Memorials, museums and Pokemon GO: App data reveals that several war memorials and museums have been marked as Pokemon ‘stops’. This has made people playing the game to look to venture there in an attempt to pouch a Pokemon – surely weird, if not disrespectful.
