If one was present at San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, the magic of Pokemon Go, could be seen when scores of fans present in Pokemon themed caps, participated in a bar crawl. The unofficial bar crawl event at Comic-con, was attended by hundreds who got drunk as they played the new app sensation Pokemon Go. Put together by Facebook user, Caitlin Teasdale, the event was a hit at the convention, and it is not surprising, given Pokemon Go’s popularity since its launch two weeks ago.
Bars at Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, had drinks were put up for Pokemon Go players . Looking at the event’s popoularity, Fazer, a gaming company, offered its booth as a staging area. It also had a Pokemon Go chat app created for people to use there. It all started with a Facebook group a week ago, and Teasdale expected a dozen people but the event became hugely popular, and hundreds of fans turned in. The point of the event was “have fun drinking and playing Pokemon”. It got creative when even battery companies pitched in, as the players would have needed it after playing all night.
The augmented reality based game, Pokemon Go is still making waves even after two weeks of its release, and has been at the top of iTunes app chart. Many such events at Comic-con are expected this year and the next.
