Yes, PM Modi is officially the most followed world leader on Facebook with more than 40 million followers present on his personal account. Interestingly, according to the report published by Burson-Marsteller, the PMO account came in the third position in the ‘most followed’ list with 13 million followers. Barack Obama, meanwhile, is not in the race since he is no longer the US President, but according to his Facebook account, currently has more than 54 million followers. This number is more than all the world leaders by a big margin. At the second position, however, is the current US President, Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, other Indian leaders who found themselves in the top 20 ‘most followed’ list are President Pranab Mukherjee who is placed at number 9 and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, ranked number 16. According to the report, Modi had the most interactions last year, including likes, comments and shares. The most popular post of 2016 shared by PM Modi was a picture of his mother visiting his house at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. PM Modi had 169 million page interactions in 2016, on his page. In the second spot, way behind was Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen, with just 58 million interactions. The archived @ObamaWhiteHouse page stood at the third position with 36 million interactions, followed by Argentine President Mauricio Macri whose interaction falls just below 36 million.

Meanwhile, Obama was once the most followed world leader on Facebook with 52 million followers, currently had a very low interaction rated at only 0.15 per cent. Still, his personal page stood fifth in the top list, with over 30 million interactions for 2016.
