Apple launched the iPhone X last year in October where the unusual design of the premium iPhone model caught thousands of eyeballs. Like always, other mobile phone makers soon began working on the smartphones with a similar design. Asus has so far been reported to be working on a new smartphone, called ZenFone 5, that will have the ‘notch’ at the top resembling the one seen on iPhone X expected to launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. Now, new leaked images suggest that Oppo could also launch a device sporting the iPhone X-style notch at the top.
According to the images leaked on Weibo, Oppo will launch new smartphones to its R series – R15 and R15 Plus. The Oppo R15 and R15 Plus are interestingly the same smartphones that were rumoured earlier as Oppo R13 and Oppo R13 Plus. The earlier reports suggested that two smartphones could be powered by an unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC. The reason behind the change in the names is speculated to be the number 13 that is associated with misfortune in some countries. The leaked images show that the Oppo R15 and R15 Plus bearing an exactly similar ‘notch’ at the top, along with a dual camera setup at the back accompanied by a dual LED flash. There will be thin bezels on the device as well.

Moreover, the leaked images suggest that there could be three colour variants of the Oppo R15 and R15 Plus – Black, Purple, and Pink. Apart from this, there is nothing much revealed about the specifications of both the devices. Interestingly, the images that have been leaked on Weibo show the devices in a different design from the ones leaked in November last year as Oppo R13 and R13 Plus.
