OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, on Wednesday, confirmed on Reddit that the OnePlus X will be getting the Android Marshmallow update next week. It is also reported that the OnePlus 3 will be getting Android Nougat update, though no specific date has been confirmed yet. Pei, in a comment on Reddit, confirmed that the OnePlus X, which currently runs on Lollipop will be upgraded to Marshmallow next week. Although, it is speculated that the Marshmallow would be the last update for OnePlus X as it still runs using a Snapdragon 801 processor, which is not compatible with Android 7.0 Nougat.

The company, though, has revealed that its team is “actively working” on the updates for its Android 7.0 Nougat based Oxygen for OnePlus 3. Earlier, the two Operating systems of the company namely, Oxygen and Hydrogen were merged into a single platform with Android as a base and the Oxygen OS 3.5.2 community build was created. The company also said that they are combining their team resources to help them fasten the process of providing software updates. However, no timeline was guaranteed by them as to when the Android Nougat was to be released.

To install the new update, the user has to go to the Home screen and tap on settings. You have to scroll down to “System” and select About Device. You need to select Download Updates manually and then tap OK and Start. On tapping the start button, a restart button will appear. Tap OK. Users can also install the update manually by going to Settings, then scroll for About Phone, select it and tap on System update. Currently, the new software has been made available via the OTS (Over-The-Air) which brings improvements such as the Android Marshmallow features such as a lighter and faster Google Chrome, support for international languages, Google photos and auto back up from where, all the app’s user data will automatically get saved to the Google Drive.
