Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus might be coming out with a new smartphone soon. According to some recent leaks, the all new OnePlus 5 maybe in the works and can be announced in 2017 itself. As the speculations are rife about the launch of a new smartphone, questions arise, why the company will not bring the OnePlus 4, as the last phone was the OnePlus 3T. Meanwhile, famous tipster, Evan Blass has tweeted a picture which showcases a wallpaper from what appears to be the new OnePlus smartphone. In the picture one can see, written in bold letters are the words ‘Never Settle’ and in the background, there is molten black lava and shades of red and orange.
The wallpaper that has been leaked, either suggests that the OnePlus 5 is in the works and will come in a dark coloured variant. It is possible that OnePlus will bring the new device in a new metal unibody design. Additionally, rumour mills also suggest that the company may also bring a new Black colour model for the current smartphone, the OnePlus 3T. OnePlus may not come with the OnePlus 4, as it should because the number 4 is considered very unlucky in China, where the company is based out of. Interestingly, in terms of display, it looks like the OnePlus 5 will not have the 2K feature, and instead will go with the Full-HD screen.

Apart from the leak by Evan Blass, even Android Police’s David Ruddock posted on Twitter, mentioning OnePlus’ co-founder Carl Pei, asking him whether one can expect a ‘dark’ announcement sometime soon. Pei in turn, replied to the tweet, with a GIF of wolves howling at night under a full moon.
.@getpeid I hear OnePlus could have a dark announcement some time soon. That it might even be as Black as Midnight?

Additionally, South Korea’s Korea portal has reported that the OnePlus 5, when it comes will compete with Samsung’s next flagship device, the Galaxy S8.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 5 might feature a ceramic body with 4,000mAh battery alongside a 6GB or even an 8GB RAM. While it remains to be seen what exactly the leak is all about, it will be too early to call on the features of the new smartphone as the company usually launches its devices during the end of the year.
