Nokia 5 and Nokia 8, made by HMD Global got permanent price cut in India starting February 1. Nokia 5 (3 GB) gets a modest price cut of Rs 1,000 and now will be available at Rs 12,499. Nokia 8 also got a massive price cut of Rs 8,000, which brings down the price of the smartphone down to Rs 28,999. At the time of launch, Nokia 8 was priced at Rs 36,999 and Nokia 5 (3GB) was priced at Rs 13,499. The price cut by HMD Global has put Nokia 8 in a very competitive price point as the smartphone comes with specifications that are only seen in high-end smartphones. Having specifications such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and 4GB of RAM, the smartphone now becomes relatively cheaper than OnePlus 5T and Honor 8 Pro.
Nokia 5, the mid-range offering from HMD Global, features a full metal-unibody design. Nokia 5 sports a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution. Nokia 5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt memory that can be expanded via microSD card up to 128GB. Nokia 5 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera while there is an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Nokia 5 packs a 3000mAh battery under the hood. The handset comes preloaded with Android 7.0 Nougat, however, it is upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo in India.
Back in September last year, Nokia 8 was launched in India. Nokia 8 has an aluminium body with a fingerprint scanner on the front. Nokia 8 houses 13-megapixel dual rear cameras with a 13-megapixel front camera. Nokia 8 features a 5.3-inch 2K display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via microSD card up to 256GB. Nokia 8 was launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, though the phone has already received Android 8.0 Oreo update in India.
