The Android 8.0 Oreo update brings features such as improved battery life, notification dots, lower power and battery consumption, and the monthly Android Security update among others
HMD Global on Monday announced that it has begun rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update to Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7. The Finnish company shared the rollout information on Weibo along with the features both the smartphone will receive in the update. The Android 8.0 Oreo is rolling out via OTA updates and should reach the users soon. In addition, the company said that it will be releasing Nokia 6 (2017) updates soon, which means that Android 8.0 Oreo will be rolled out in a stable version to the first-generation Nokia 6.
The company is currently testing Android 8.0 Oreo for the Nokia 5 and older Nokia 6 under the Nokia Beta Labs programme. However, HMD Global skipped the testing for Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 and has started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo stable version directly. The Android 8.0 Oreo update brings features such as improved battery life, notification dots, lower power and battery consumption, and the monthly Android Security update among others.

Nokia 6 (2018) was launched earlier this month as a sequel to the original Nokia 6 with bumped up specifications. It was, however, launched with the old Android Nougat version. On the other hand, the Nokia 7 was launched in October last year but the company did not include this smartphone in its Nokia Beta Lab programme.
HMD Global will ‘soon’ release updates for the first-generation Nokia 6 as well. The first generation Nokia 6 was the first smartphone launched by HMD Global, in China in January last year and later before the MWC 2017 in February for the global markets. The company started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo beta for Nokia 6 (2017) in December last year, however, the deployment could not happen due to an issue with December Security update. It is now likely that the company could begin rolling out the stable Android 8.0 Oreo version for the Nokia 6 (2017).
