MWC 2017 Live updates: Nokia re-launches Nokia 3310, Huawei introduces 1st smartphone with 4.5G technology

Almost 17 years after its debut, the company relaunches Nokia 3310 phone, with added battery life and all-new features, at the Mobile World Congress 2017.

As the highly anticipated and the biggest smartphone event kicks off with all set to witness a barrage of new phone launches at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017), big brands like Huawei, LG and Sony will be introducing their latest creations. However, with anticipations on the first global smartphone launch, expectations are high on the comeback of the Nokia phone, the brand name rights of which is now held by HMD Global.

MWC takes place every year in Barcelona, Spain, at two venues: Fira Gran Via and Fira Montjuic. Mobile World Congress occurs at the end of February each year. The main events this year will begin on February 27 (Monday) and will continue till March 2 (Thursday). Over 2,200 manufacturers will be present at the MWC 2017, including tech majors like Google, Microsoft, Huawei, Lenovo, Nokia, Sony, LG, Intel, Samsung and more. The event will witness many keynote speakers, including bosses of Niantic and Netflix. The smartphone manufacturers have sent out media invites for events ahead of the MWC 2017, and it is expected that the companies will launch their smartphones at these events.

10:00 pm: A much affordable Nokia 3, with a 5-inch HD display and Gorilla Glass, features an 8MP rear camera and will be available from Q2 of 2017.

09:52 pm: With a special art black version alike the iPhone 7 Jet Black, Nokia 5 features a 5.2-inch display and comes in blue, copper, black and silver colors.

09:45 pm: HMD Global claims that Nokia 6 was sold out within 23 seconds in China in their first sale and most buyers were from the younger generation.

09:35 pm: Nokia announces the new vision on Nokia Health.

08:50 pm: According to leaks, the Moto G5 Plus features Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB RAM, and 3000 mAh battery with a 5.2-inch full HD display.

08:40 pm: Motorola is all set to launch the all-new Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus as their event starts at 9:00 pm.

07:55 pm: With a 4GB storage the Huwaei Watch 2 runs Android Wear 2.0.

07:50 pm: Available in Carbon Black, Dynamic Orange, Titanium Grey, Concrete Grey, Huawei launches Huawei Watch 2 in Partnership with Porsche with the Porsche design.

07:30 pm: The Huawei P10 smartphones features 5.1-inch 1080p display, with 4GB RAM+64GB storage and the P10 Plus comes with 5.5-inch WQHD display with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. Both the phones run Huawei’s Kirin 960 processor

07:15 pm: While the Huawei P10 has 3200 mAh battery, the P10 Plus has 3750 battery and both the smartphones are water-resistant.

07:10 pm: The Huawei P10 Plus features 5.5-inch 2K Display.

07:00 pm: Apparently, the Huawei P10, P10 Plus will be available with Blue, Green colour options.

06:50 pm: Huawei introduces P10 and P10 Plus featuring a diamond cut polish, with a graphite black colour option as well.

06:43 pm: The Huawei P10 launch goes live on Facebook while its YouTube stream is apparently off.

06:40 pm: With all eyes on its new launch, Huawei is all set to launch its dual-camera P10 smartphones.

05:45 pm: LG G6 event ends and Huawei is next to launch its P10 smartphones.

05:40 pm: The new LG smartphone features Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 13 MP dual wide angle camera on the back and a 100-degree wide angle front camera.


05:25 pm: The new LG G6 smartphones will have games like Temple Run 2 in 18:9 format and the Dolby Vision standard.

05: 20 pm: LG launches smartphone with big focus and something that fits in the hand. With a metal frame on the side LG calls the new launch a full vision display.

04:15 pm: LG set to launch all new smartphone with 5.7-inch QHD display with a near bezel-less display.

04:10 pm: LG live streams the event on their YouTube channel and is expected to start at 4:30 pm.

03:15 pm: LG G6 flagship presents the first announcements of the day.

05:05 pm: After extra battery testing, LG will be coming in black, white and platinum colour with battery of 3300 mAh and also heats up to ensure the phone doesn’t heat up too much.
