Motorola’s all new smartphone Moto M is all set to launch in India, today. The Lenovo-owned company had sent out media invites with the text, “Mesmerizing, masterful, majestic (just like you)”. According to the invite, the event is scheduled on December 13 in Mumbai. Earlier, the company had put out a teaser on social media website Twitter. The press invite had a blurred picture of the rear end of the Moto M. Motorola Moto M smartphone is a very different device from the company and does not resemblance to the last device, Moto Z lineup. This one went on sale in China, last month.
The device has a metal boy and the edges are round. The antenna lines are at the top and bottom. Motorola, for the first time, has introduced the fingerprint scanner at the rear end, the smartphones generally have a square fingerprint scanner added on the front. The smartphone might just be among the most powerful devices among the mid-range devices. Moto M smartphone launch will be streamed live by Motorola on YouTube also. In terms of specifications: Moto M features a 5.5-inch FHD display screen and a resolution of 1920×1080 along with a 2.5 D curved glass. The smartphone has a MediaTek Helio P15 quad-core processor along with 4GB of RAM and an internal memory of 32GB, expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card. The new Motorola M contains a 16 MP camera at the back with f.2.0 aperture, PDAF support and dual tone flash. For selfies, an 8MP camera is present. The battery is of 3050mAh and has Turbo Charging technology support which is a common feature among Motorola devices. The phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and has 4G support. Moto M comes with a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual tone flash, PDAF and Dolby Audio support. The front is dominated by an 8-megapixel shooter. The 3050mAh battery supports Turbo Charging technology like other Motorola phone. The 4G LTE smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. The device is totally water and dust proof.
The price has not been announced yet, but it will be an interesting thing to wait for. According to reports, the phone will be priced at Rs 18,000. In that case, when it is launched on December 13, it will have to compete with certain smartphones which have the faster Snapdragon processors, in the range.
Motorola, with a slew of smartphones, along with its other brand, Lenovo has recently been a hit in India. In terms of shipments, it has become number two in the country, according to IDC data. The company has almost 10 percent share in the Indian smartphone market. Lenovo will also launch its latest smartphone K6 Note, this week.
