Microsoft’s changed rules may make you lose your Xbox gamertag

Just because Microsoft is updating its Terms of Services under which you have to sign in twice a decade - after every five-year if you want to retain your existing Xbox Live Gamertag. Microsoft warned that if one does not adopt the new policy, he will lose the existing gamertag ownership.

Xbox gaming has its hardcore fans and these fans always crave for a nice nickname. Over the decade, almost all the favourite possible nicknames or gamertags have been taken by the user and it is quite possible that the user may have abandoned it. But over the next few years, those existing titles may go to someone else fear why?

Just because Microsoft is updating its Terms of Services under which you have to sign in twice a decade – after every five-year if you want to retain your existing Xbox Live Gamertag. Microsoft warned that if one does not adopt the new policy, he will lose the existing gamertag ownership.

“You must sign into Xbox Services at least once in a five-year period, otherwise you may lose access to the gamertag associated with your account and that gamertag may become available for use by others,” reads one of the clauses.

Besides changing gamertag renewal policy, Microsoft has altered some of its OneDrive, Skype and privacy agreement terms. The new agreement will be applicable from September 15 this year. On May 18, Microsoft had released around one million gamertag from abandoned or inactive accounts. But since Microsoft did not publish the list, so the user had to do a lot of guesswork to find his choice.

Also, to add more fun to gaming, Microsoft is planning to roll out four new games in August for its Gold roster. “August 2016 will see the Games with Gold roster take on four newcomers” said Microsoft adding that “Xbox One will get two dedicated titles, and two Xbox 360 titles” and these will be provided through Xbox One backward Compatibility.

Since the games will be available for a limited period so users have to sign in prior to the release. The games are – Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate which is priced at $59.99 ERP, and will be available until August 31 on Xbox One, WWE 2K16 which it has priced at $39.99 ERP will be available from Aug 16 to Sept 15 on Xbox One, the third one is Spelunky priced at $19.99 ERP which will be available from Aug 1 to 15 on Xbox 360 as well as on Xbox One and the fourth game is Beyond Good & Evil which us HD game and is priced at $9.99 ERP and will be available from August 16 to 31 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
