In another effort to make its foothold in the laptop market, Micromax has launched two new laptops: Micromax Ignite and Micromax Alpha series targeting first time as well as power user. The Windows 10 powered Micromax Alpha is priced at Rs 18,990 and is available for sale exclusively through Flipkart only.
The 14-inch HD display powered Micromax Ignite Laptop features 4GB LPDDR3 RAM, Intel Pentium Processor N3700, 1TB hard disk, Windows 10 OS, 1 mp HD video front camera and 4500 mAh battery. Micromax Ignite has two USB ports, one HDMI port and one ethernet port besides wi-fi connectivity option. Micromax said that Ignite series will tap power users while Alpha series aims to target first-time laptop users. The technology firm has not revealed price and specifications of the Micromax Alpha series yet.
“The decision to foray in to newer categories is solely basis the understanding of consumer demand and need and matching it with our strong credentials in the Indian market. While the laptop category is not growing very rapidly today, we believe the key barrier is to give a high performance, well designed product at an accessible price,” said Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax Informatics.
Micromax has first tried its hands on Lapbook laptops and Laptabs, from which it has received overwhelming response, claims the company.
“Intel India is once again proud to collaborate with Micromax, as it launches devices powered by Intel Architecture, aimed at affordable computing. We have been a part of Micromax’s 2in1 product journey, and will continue to work together to design products in sync with what the Indian consumers want. This focus on personal computing is an important part of Intel India’s strategy to reach out to first time users of the PC, based on the pillars of affordability, reliability and ease of use,” said Anand Ramamoorthy, Director Consumption Sales, Intel South Asia.
Now, since the Micromax Ignite has tagged the laptop at a budget price, it will be important to see the response it get in a highly competitive market like India.
