LG V30 has been launched in Berlin at the IFA 2017. The V30 is a flagship smartphone which will try to make inroads into the premium device market which recently saw Samsung launch the Galaxy Note 8 in New York last week. The LG phone will also face competition from the Apple iPhone 8 when it launches next month. LG, with its V30, clearly aims to target customers who require the best multimedia experience in the market. The tech major has claimed that the V30 device will ‘set a new standard in the evolution of premium smartphones’. The LG V30 comes after the success of V20 mobile, the last flagship device in LG’s V-series.
When it comes to specifications, the LG V30 features a 6-inch display with 2880 x 1440 screen resolution. It is a plastic P-OLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, a new trend in the market. The screen also supports High Dynamic Range 10 (HDR) content and Always On mode. Interestingly, LG has got rid of the secondary display in the V30 smartphone. Rather, it has decided to get an almost transparent floating bar which you can drag to the side so it cannot cover the extra area in the display panel, according to the company.
The LG phone comes with 4GB RAM and two variants of storage space- 64GB and 128GB. You can also expand the memory upto 2TB using a microSD card. The 64GB model is more common and comes in 4 colours: Moroccan Blue, Aurora Black, Lavender Violet, and Cloud Silver. The LG V30 Plus model which comes with 128GB storage will be available only in a few markets. The LG V30 features the high-end Snapdragon 835 processor and comes with an entirely sealed 3300 mAh battery. Buyers can also get a fast charging support using a USB Type-C along with wireless charging. The V30 comes with Android Nougat 7.1.2.
When it comes to the camera, it has seen the most drastic change from the previous LG flagship, V20. The V30 features a dual camera setup with f/1.6 aperture. this means your images will get more light when clicked even in dynamic settings. The capacity of the secondary camera has been improved to 13 megapixels. Meanwhile, the selfie camera is 5 megapixels. Interestingly, the company has added a feature called Cine Video mode which will enable users to record high-quality videos. Also, LG V30 is rated as IP68. This essentially means that the phone is dust and water resistant upto a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
The company has said that the phone will be available in South Korea beginning from September 21. After this, the V30 will arrive in other key markets like North America, Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. LG’s hopes are now with the V30 smartphone since its last premium device, the LG G6 could not set the markets rolling. On the other hand, Samsung is still ruling in the global market and on top of that Apple is coming out with its 10th anniversary iPhone.
