Jio Phone pre booking started on August 24 amid strong buzz and anticipation but the Mukesh Ambani owned company was forced to pause the bookings due to heavy rush. Now, a report by India Today suggests that even those who had ordered their handsets will have to wait longer to get them. As per the report, the Reliance Jio Phone deliveries were scheduled to start from the first week of September but have been delayed by a week because of the huge demand. This means that you are not likely to get the handset before September 10. Also, the devices will be given on first come first serve basis so those who made booked first will be the first ones to get their hands on the Jio Phone.

For those, who were not able to book their handsets before the pre booking paused, Reliance will soon open it again. Jio has tweeted that by registering one can get to know when pre booking resumes. “Thank you! Are you ready to experience the Digital Life with JioPhone? Register here & know when pre booking resumes https://bit.ly/TyIndia,” jio posted on its official Twitter handle. People who are interested in buying phone can log on to Jio site to fill details for registration. Jio has confirmed that millions have pre booked Jio Phone.

The Reliance Jio feature phone which is priced at effectively zero was announced by Mukesh Ambani at the Reliance AGM last month. Addressing the annual meeting of shareholders of RIL, the parent of Jio, Chairman Ambani had said the handset, named JioPhone, will have an effective price of Rs 0 as buyers will be able to get the device for a one-time refundable security deposit of Rs 1,500.

To book this phone, you have to pay only Rs 500 and the rest Rs 1000 have to be paid once the phone is delivered. “JioPhone will be physically available to those who have pre-booked, on a first come first serve basis, September onwards,” Ambani had said while announcing the phone.
