Italy’s third largest mobile brand Medicom owned by technology major Datamatic is set to enter Indian market initially with low priced phablets and mobile phones and then to launch the remaining over 200 products in a phased manner.
Announcing the Indian forays, Luca Lauro, Chief Operating Officer, Datamatic said here today that the Company has already established business in Europe, Brazil, Egypt, Iran and Dubai. He said that the Company decided to enter Indian market after the Government announced its “Digital India” mission.
Luca Lauro said that the products would be sold only through online mode at company’s website to cut intermediately costs. The company has set up its India warehouse at Mohali near Chandigarh.
Harbinder Singh Dhaliwal, Chief Executive Officer, Mediacom India said that the full HD range of water resistant phablets, tablets and mobiles begins at just Rs 6,000. The Company is targeting a turnover of Rs 500 crores to Rs 700 crores in the first year of launch. He said that the company is also contemplating to have manufacturing facilities in India with an outlay of Rs 1000 crores. He said that India is the second largest market in the world and the Company finds huge potential for new generation smart phones and phablets.
Navneet Kansal, Head (Business Development) said that the Company finds India a niche market for technology products and Mediacom India besides phablets and mobile phones would also launch Apple i-phone accessories and other products shortly.
