Ten years back on January 9, 2007, Cupertino giant Apple had put a stall on rumours of its entrance in the cellphone market with the announcement of iPhone. It was revolutionary then and it was futuristic in 2017 with the launch of iPhone X. Apple has been a promoter of the avant-garde and they have proved it time and again with launching ground-breaking tech products- be it Macintosh, iPod or iPhone. iPhone X can also be dubbed as the most-awaited phones in the smartphone market last year. Interestingly, what grabbed the headline was its new feature-Face ID. The iPhone X uses Face ID, a technology that unlocks the phone by using infrared and visible light scans to uniquely identify your face. It works in a variety of conditions and is extremely secure. However, the feature has time and again faced criticism over its repeated failures. News of people unlocking iPhone’s of friends using the feature has randomly popped up.
Netizens have flooded social media posting memes of the Face ID option. Mahindra Chairman, Anand Mahindra has also found a way to make fun of the feature. Mahindra took to Twitter, and said, ”Am enjoying the facial recognition feature on my new iPhone X It’s quite remarkable & convenient. But my biggest nightmare is that one morning when I turn it on, Siri is going to suddenly scream & say…”Oh God, you look terrible. Take a holiday yaar..”
