Huawei Watch GT has been aggressively priced at Rs 15,999 onwards in India
Huawei on Tuesday announced the launch of three new additions to its wearable portfolio in India. The Chinese colossus released the Huawei Watch GT, Huawei Band Pro, and the Huawei Band 3e in India. The Huawei Watch GT was launched in October last year in global markets but the company is slowly expanding its footprint in India after it recently began refocusing in the ‘affordable’ segment.
The Huawei Watch GT has been aggressively priced at Rs 15,990 for the Sports Edition while the Classic Edition costs Rs 16,990 in India. It’s going on sale starting March 19 on Amazon.in but if you place an early order, Huawei will bundle the Huawei Sport AM61 Bluetooth earphones worth Rs 2,999 for free with the order. You can avail the No-Cost EMI facility on the Watch GT starting with the 3-monthly plan.
Huawei says the term GT, which stands for ‘Grand Tour’, brings “valuable essence to the gene” of the Watch GT. With a 10.6mm thick body, the Huawei Watch GT sports a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 454×454 pixels. The body consists of a crown made of stainless steel with ceramic bezels on top. Huawei says the Watch GT uses DLC diamond carbon coating for durability that will last for “decades”. However, the watch lacks the military-grade standard.
There are two types of the band – a silicone one with two colours and a leather-rubber band – for the Sports and Classic Editions, respectively. There are four band types in total – Graphite Black Silicone Strap, Saddle Brown leather Silicone Strap, Glacier Gray Silicone Strap. The smartwatch has in-built GPS, GLONASS, and GALILEO support, which is useful in determining the most accurate location while running and counting walk steps. The sports mode supports hiking, trail run, outdoor walking, running, cycling, swimming, and training. The data based on sports is supported with the help of “sports organisation”.
With the help of the data provided by these organisations, Huawei Watch GT can record the change in fat, endurance, and cardio training of the user. It also supports heart rate monitoring with TruSeen 3.0 technology that can detect both active and resting heart rates. The PPG optical, powered by AI algorithms, the monitor can map heart rate in real time with “high precision”. Huawei even claims Watch GT can safeguard the user’s health by logging the heart rate date as long as the user keeps wearing it. There is 16MB of RAM and 128MB of internal storage, which means you cannot store a lot of music on the watch.
Huawei Watch GT supports devices running Android 4.4 or higher and iOS 9.0 or later. There is an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, optical heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, and a barometer. The smartwatch does not support Wi-Fi but there is Bluetooth v4.2 with BLE to pair the device with the phone and use the tethered Internet. Huawei Watch GT is rated to deliver 14 days of battery life and can be charged wirelessly. It is also water-resistant up to 5 atm, Huawei claims.
