The Type Mode works similar to the regular Instagram Stories, where users will need to open the camera and see “Type” next to “Normal” under the record button. Then, just tap “Type” and you will be able to type whatever text you want.
Instagram has introduced Type Mode in Stories that will allow users to post text-only Instagram Stories. In addition to posting photos and videos, the users can simply write text and post it as Instagram Stories, along with different colour backgrounds and text styles. Besides, Instagram announced Carousel Ads for Stories enabling advertisers to post three media items in a single Story. The Type Mode and Carousel Ads are now available in the Instagram version 30 for both iOS and Android platforms.
The Instagram Stories Type Mode has been under testing for quite a while, and it has now been released on the stable channel for all the users. The Type Mode works similar to the regular Instagram Stories, where users will need to open the camera and see “Type” next to “Normal” under the record button. Then, just tap “Type” and you will be able to type whatever text you want. You can customise the background and text style by highlighting words as well. Just like the regular Instagram Stories, these text-only Stories will disappear after 24 hours.
“We’re introducing ‘Type’ mode in stories, a new way to share anything that’s on your mind with creative text styles and backgrounds – no photo or video required. Now, you can turn your most random thoughts into something colourful and expressive,” the Facebook-owned company wrote in a blog post.
Carousel Ads in Instagram Stories is another new feature that allows advertisers to have up to three pieces of media per Stories advertisement, unlike before when there was room for just one. “Carousel Ads for Instagram Stories behave the same way as other ‘Stories’ content, meaning you can tap through, swipe back and forth or pause the content whenever you’d like,” the company added in the blog post. To learn how the community and brands engage with this new ad format, Instagram is starting with a limited set of global advertisers such as Coca-Cola (@cocacolamx) and Paramount (@paramountpics).
Instagram recently rolled out the Last Active feature that lets users know the online status of their Instagram friends whom they have exchanged Direct Messages with. The feature is similar to WhatsApp’s last seen feature that tells users the last time a contact was active. The feature is now available for both iOS and Android platforms.
