Now people can pay their water and electricity bill online for free using digital payments app Tez. Google India on Monday announced the launch of a specially designed service to help users pay their bills in just seconds without paying any transaction charges. Customers can now pay their electricity, gas, water, DTH and mobile postpaid bills and recharge too. The new feature includes major utilities such as Reliance Energy, BSES and DishTV.
What is more interesting is that users will also get notifications when their bill arrives and customers will be able to check whether they have paid a bill by simply tapping the biller’s name on Tez home screen. Users can also check their payment history 0n Tez.
Speaking about the launch of the new bill payments feature, Diana Layfield, VP, Payments & Commerce, Next Billion Users said “We are adding a specially designed bill pay experience in Tez which will enable users to make a wide range of bill payments including electricity, water, gas, DTH, and insurance from the app.”
Here is how the new bill payment feature works:
Customers will see different billers depending on their city and region. Once the customers have located their biller, they need to enter the number linked to their account and give it an easy name to remember.
Once it is done, Tez app will automatically fetch any available bills from the biller. Now, the users just need to click on ‘New Payment’ option and then pay the bills. Interestingly, for every new biller that the customers pay, they will get a scratch card with up to Rs 1000.
Please note that the list of billers who are available for the customers is accessible online. Built on the Indian government-supported Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Tez is reportedly a simple and secure mobile app for digital payments, built with the goal of making digital payments as easy as using cash.
