Huawei Terminal brand Honor is expected to roll out the Face Unlock feature in its Honor 7X smartphone. Honor 7X will soon receive an over-the-air (OTA) update that will bring the much-awaited Face Unlock feature, industry sources told IANS on Tuesday. The Honor 7X will be the third smartphone to feature the face unlock functionality in India, after the Honor View 10 and Honor 9 Lite.
The Honor 7X is currently available in India at a price of Rs 12,999 for the 32GB variant and Rs 15,999 for the 64GB model. The smartphone was recently available for as low as Rs 1,798 via Amazon India with cashback and discount offers. The company has so far sold over 40 million Honor 7X units, it announced recently. The Honor 7X is still one of the most popular smartphones in the sub-Rs 15,000 range in India.
In order to update, the Honor 7X users will have to go to the software update settings and check for the related update when it arrives. After downloading and installing it, the users will be able to set up a new unlocking method by showing just their faces. It is not clear whether the face unlock feature on the phone will support multiple face data. Anyway, after the update arrives on the Honor 7X, there will be two biometric methods to unlock the handset – physical fingerprint sensor and face unlock with the help of the front cameras.
For the specifications, the Honor 7X comes a 5.93-inch full-HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor, 4GB of RAM along with 32GB and 64GB storage options, and microSD card support for further expansion up to 256GB. Honor 7X is backed by a 3340mAh battery and runs Android 7.0 Nougat-based EMUI 8 on top. Honor 7X sports 16-megapixel primary and 12-megapixel secondary cameras on the rear whereas, on the front, there are 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors. The rear camera setup is accompanied by a dual LED flash.
