Search engine giant Google has come out with Android 8.0 Oreo update in August 20017. It is the latest version of Android mobile operating system. The Android 8.0 Oreo was announced for a while now, however, still the final version is being rolled out on most available smartphones, due to the problem of Android fragmentation. Only a few smartphones, apart from those which are ‘made by Google’ got the update. As per Indian Express, Every manufacturing company has set a timeline for the launch of Android 8.0 Oreo. Some companies have already started rolling out the update to some devices. Here is an overview on which some devices are getting Android Oreo and the current status.

Update on Android 8.0 Oreo: Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, Note8 and others

South Korean company Samsung has a beta programme for Experience 9.0, which is a fresh version which is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Currently, it is is only available on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in the US, UK and south Korea. In US, the Android Oreo beta testing is expected to complete today. It is expected that the company will expand the programme in other nations as well including India. However, the exact details is not yet out.

Updation of Android 8.0 Oreo: Google Pixel/Nexus devices

Google had started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to its Nexus and Pixel devices in August 2017. Pixel 2, Pixel, Google Pixel 2 XL, Pixel C, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player and Nexus 6P have received Android 8.0 Oreo. These are now all on Android 8.1 Oreo. Nexus 9 (Wi-Fi and LTE variants) and Nexus 6 both are not eligible to get Android Oreo.

Updation of Android 8.0 Oreo: HMD Global for Nokia 8, 6, 5, Nokia 2, etc

Finland-based company HMD Global, owns the rights of market and manufacture of Nokia-branded smartphones. The company is committed to bring the latest Android version to all available smartphones. Currently, Nokia 8 is the only phone which is running Android 8.0 Oreo. However, most of other Nokia mobiles are already on the Oreo beta . The list includes consists of the Nokia 6 and Nokia 5. Nokia 3 and Nokia 2 ghave also been confirmed to get Android Oreo.

Update Android Oreo 8.0: OnePlus devices like OnePlus 3, 3T, OnePlus 5, 5T

OnePlus has launched OxygenOS 5 for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. It is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. In the meantime, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T will get fresh update this month. The OnePlus 5T open beta-testing has startted. Even as the Oreo update was introduced for OnePlus 5, but it was then suspended because of bugs in the system. OnePlus is committed to Oreo updates for OnePlus 5, 5T, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T .

Updation of Android 8.0 Oreo : Xiaomi devices like Mi Mix 2, Redmi Note 4, Mi A1.

Chinese manufacturing company Xiaomi’s Android One phone Mi A1 received Android Oreo update. It was then suspended before being rolled out again. The first update reulted in a number of of problems on phones. It seems that the Mi A Android Oreo update is suspended again. There is however no word on when phones Redmi 4, Redmi Note 4, etc will get Android Oreo. Also Mi Mix 2’s global beta ROM on Android Oreo is at the moment open for testing. The company has invited users to test out the new Oreo-based MIUI ROM.
