Diwali festive season is undoubtedly the best time to buy smartphones in India. While premium mobile manufacturers like Apple and Samsung historically launch their latest flagship devices, there are many other brands like Xiaomi and Motorola who announce their budget devices. Additionally, e-commerce websites like Flipkart and Amazon jump into the fray to give away massive discounts and offer on popular phones. While Google is about to launch its Pixel 2 smartphones in India today, Huawei will launch its new Honor 9 mobile tomorrow. Check out all the new phones that are arriving in India this Diwali.
Google Pixel 2: Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones are set to launch today. The new Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are hugely anticipated smartphones, and it is evident from the number of leaks and rumours we have witnessed regarding the mobiles. Reports suggest that the phones will have a glass and metal body, similar to the previous Pixel devices. but this year they may be water resistant but may lose the headphone jack. The anticipation regarding the Pixel 2 XL is understandable, as it is expected to come with 6 inch Quad HD screen and the phone may have an 18:9 aspect ratio.
Based on rumours, the Pixel 2 could be priced at around $649. This amount in Indian currency would be around Rs 42,000. However, the company may have to price the smartphone a bit higher in India due to various factors. Yet, we expect the price of the Pixel 2 in India to be around Rs 45,000. Meanwhile, the Pixel 2 XL is expected to come with a price tag of $849. This means that the phone in India will be priced somewhere between Rs 55,000 to Rs 60,000.
Huawei Honor 9: The Honor 9 will launch in India on October 5. Honor 9 comes almost a year after its predecessor Honor 8 which was announced at Rs 29,999. With Honor 9, the focus is on dual rear cameras. Honor 9 has a 5.15-inch Full HD display. The price of the phone starts at 2299 Yuan in China, which translates to around Rs 23,000 on conversion. The price is for the base model (4GB RAM+64GB ROM). Other storage models include 6GB RAM with 64GB or 128GB storage. It is unclear at this point of time whether Honor will bring all three storage versions of Honor 9 to India, but expect the pricing to be around the same.
Motorola Moto X4: Moto X4 was supposed to launch in India in the first week of October, so we can expect an unveiling soon. We have yet to learn when exactly it will be available and how much it will cost. Moto X4 offers a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080) display, a Snapdragon 630 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, microSD card support, and a 3,000mAh battery inside. Like other Motorola smartphones, Moto X4 runs a pure version of Android Nougat. On the camera front, Moto X4 has a dual-camera setup, comprising of a 12MP and 8MP sensor. Also, add a 16MP shooter in the front of the phone for self-portraits and video calling.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2: Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 smartphone will launch in India on October 10, company’s India head Manu Kumar Jain has confirmed. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is a flagship smartphone and the company has launched it after a long time. The price of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 starts at RMB 3,299 in China. This is the 6GB RAM and 64GB memory variant of the phone, and its India price is expected to be around Rs 30,000 to Rs 34,000. The bigger storage variant of the Mi Mix 2 (6GB RAM, 128GB ROM), costs RMB 3,599. In India, the phone could be priced at Rs 35,000 to Rs 38,000. Meanwhile, the biggest version, the 256GB memory variant of the Mi Mix 2 costs RMB 3,999 and in India, the phone could come with a price tag of over Rs 40,000.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 runs the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The phone packs a 12MP camera at the back, along with 4-axis OIS (optical image stabilization). When it comes to other specifications, the Mi MIX 2 features a 5.99-inch full display screen. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. The mobile comes with a 3,400 mAh battery.
Nokia 8: Nokia 8 has been launched in India priced at Rs 36,999. Nokia 8 will be available in India from October 14. The Nokia 8 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage was announced in London last month. The smartphone features a 5.3-inch 2K LCD display with Gorilla Glass 5 on top. It runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The biggest achievement by Nokia has been enabling users to use the front and back camera at the same time. The smartphone features a 13MP dual camera on the back with laser and phase autofocus, image stabilization, and Carl Zeiss optics. The front camera has a 13MP shooter for taking selfies.
