Google doodle is celebrating the 114th birthday of the Japanese director Eiji Tsuburaya. In honour of the quiet pioneer of powerful on-screen effects, Google’s interactive doodle will allow you to make your own short live action film through an interactive game.

Eiji Tsuburaya was born on July 7, 1901 in Fukushima and passed away in 1970. He was one of Japan’s best known special effects directors. Through his monster movies, he coined a style called Tokusatsu, a Japanese form of live action film.

He was the man behind special effects in Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim and even Power Rangers. He was one of the co-creators of the Godzilla series, as well as the main creator of Ultraman.
